First Writing Center Observations
I went to my first observations this week and I found it very interesting, when I arrived I observed a tutoring session with two students. The tutor was very friendly and supportive of each writers work. Each students were new and moved here from another country. The students brought the assignment requirements to the tutoring session so the tutor started to look at that first. Then the tutor took turns in 10 min intervals to look at each students work. It was like the tutor was bouncing from one student to another. each student took notes for what the tutor was telling them. And most of the time the students where just looking and not really doing anything when the tutor was working with the other student. Through out the session the tutor would go off topic and ask the students about their home lands, and their county. I feel like he spent most of his time talking about the students lives. When he would realize that that he would got off topic he would ask more questions and continue to read the students essay's. He helped with the students grammar, spelling and sentence structure, After the students did not have enough time to get all of the work done that she wanted to so she had asked if she can come back for another session and the tutor said she cant. That has to do with the responding to late in tutoring writing. I Look forward to my other observations, to see if its different or better.
