Blog Video Review

In class we watched videos about different writing center. Basically the video showed what to expect when you go to the writing center for tutoring and for help with your paper. These videos displayed a lot on content and information about the writing center. There were some useful and not so useful strategies that were discussed in these videos. Some useful strategies would be: The Tutor helps the writer with his or her paper, The Tutor is positive to the writer and tries his or her's best with the paper, The Tutor tries to remain calm at all times. if the tutor sees that someone plagiarize he or she should try to get the writer to understand his/her mistake with out getting the writer upset.

Video Response

1) Based the Writing Center videos, what makes a tutorial successful and what are we looking for as we begin our observations next week?

What makes a touting session successful is that the tutor needs to be engaged and interested in helping the student The tutor needs to be positive and knows what to say to help you. He/she doesn't make you feel like you have done something wrong. For an example in the video the student had one day to write the paper, and the tutor tried his best to help her and didn't speak negatively to her. When I begin my observations in the writing center I will be looking for tutors that are interested in helping the student and that are positive.

2) What are the common points between what makes for good 'teaching' and what makes for 'good writing.'

The common points that make for good teaching, and for good writing is to have good communication and not only negative feedback but also positive feedback. In order to have good writing skills. Good teaching skills need to present.
